Casey Kasem, the legendary host of American Top 40 and the voice of Shaggy in Scooby-Doo, has died at the age of 82.
Kasem started his radio show American Top 40 on July 4, 1970. The first show feature Three Dog Night ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’ as the number one song in America.
American Top 40 became the global hit. By the 80s it was heard in more than 50 countries. Casey Kasem hosted the show until 1988 but returned between 1998 and 2003. Shadoe Stevens hosted from 1988-1995 and Ryan Seacrest has been the shows host since 2004.
Casey Kasem had one of the best known voices in the world. He was Shaggy in Scooby-Doo for 40 years until 2009 and was Shaggy’s father’s voice in the 2010 series ‘Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. He also provided the voice for Robin in Super Friends, Mark in Battle of the Planets and a number of Transformers characters.

Casey Kasem was born Kemal Amin Kasem in Detroit on April 27, 1932.
Casey Kasem is survived by wife Jean, daughter Liberty and former wife Linda and their children Mike, Julie and Kerri.
