Classic announcer and voice actor Casey Kasem is in critical condition in a Washington hospital with his daughter Kerri saying that his health is in decline and he “won’t be with us much longer.”
Kasem has been suffering from a form of dementia in the last couple of years and had been cared for by his wife Jean; however, she has steadfastly refused to allow Casey’s children from a previous marriage to visit him. When Jean move Casey from Los Angeles to a friends house in the state of Washington, the children leapt into action. Last Friday (May 30), a Washington judge ordered Jean Kasem to allow Kerri to see her father with a medical professional and, on Sunday when the meeting occurred, they took Casey to St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, WA.
It has now been revealed that Kasem was suffering from infected skin ulcerations (bed sores) which have become so bad that he is now listed in critical condition. He is currently receiving intravenous antibiotics.
On Friday, a Washington judge upheld daughter Kerri’s temporary conservatorship and ordered separate visit times for Jean Kasem and Casey’s three children.
Kasem is best known for the American Top 40 franchise along with being the original voice of the character Shaggy in the Scooby Doo cartoon.
