Cat Stevens is the latest artist to withdraw from his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
A particularly good year for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions may produce a particularly bad induction show.
We’ve already had KISS tell everyone they don’t intend on performing and, now, Cat Stevens may not be coming to America for the show. Roger Friedman at ShowBiz411.com was told by a close friend that Stevens (now Yusuf Islam) has not decided about making the trip from Britain.
If the ceremony loses Stevens, it will mean that over half of the inductees will not be performing. Along with the previously mentioned KISS and Stevens, Linda Ronstadt can no longer sing due to the affects of Parkinson’s disease and, of course, Kurt Cobain is no longer with us to front Nirvana.
That could leave the ceremony with performances by a series of artists “saluting” the inductees, something that has been a regular part of the ceremony but not quite to the potential extent this year. Unless something else happens, we can still expect performances from inductees Daryl Hall and John Oates, Peter Gabriel and the E-Street Band, presumably with Bruce Springsteen.
