We will soon hear some previously unreleased Janis Martin music.
Janis, who was nicknamed the female Elvis, died in 2007. The US rockabilly singer was a top 40 star in 1956 with her hit ‘Drugstore Rock and Roll’. She also had the original version of ‘Bang Bang’, covered earlier this year by Australia’s Lanie Lane.
In the 60s she left the music business because of her husband’s demands but returned to the stage in 1975.
In 1995 she was a guest of Rosie Flores’ ‘Rockabilly Filly’. Six months before her death Flores produced a new album for Janis and it is finally going to be released.
The Blanco Sessions is coming this year via Cow Island Music.
Have a listen to ‘As Long As I’m Moving’.
