Cher Says Benny Used The Girls As Instruments In Abba

by Paul Cashmere on September 6, 2018

in News

Cher has made a startling observation about Abba suggesting that Benny Anderson used Anna-Frida and Agnetha as instruments in the group.

In an interview with Philip Galanes from The New York Times Cher said, “Benny took the girls and used them like instruments. Sonny used to do that to me. He would carve out a place for them in the songs, and they would fit in that little place. But he didn’t give them space to sing the way they might have wanted to”.

She also admitted, “I wasn’t a big fan of Abba in the ’70s”.

Cher is one of the stars of the Mamma Mia Here We Go Again movie. She plays Ruby Sheridan, Donna’s mother and Sophie’s grandmother in ‘Mamma Mia Here We Go Again’.

The comments are even more startling considering that Cher’s latest album in all Abba songs.

Cher has no regrets about Sonny Bono’s dominance. “That’s the way Sonny was. He was a Sicilian man of his generation,” she said. ‘Sonny was all focus … I was just bouncing off walls.”
