Chris Brown was released on $250,000 (£190,154) bail on Tuesday night (30Aug16) after being arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Chris Brown was taken into custody at a police station in downtown Los Angeles, following a lengthy search at Brown’s Tarzana, California home, after model Baylee Curran accused him of pulling a gun on her.

Records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department show that Brown was released at 11.19pm. He is now scheduled to appear at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center on 20 September (16) for an arraignment.

After his release, Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy.”

The drama began early Tuesday when beauty queen Curran called the police and alleged that the singer had pointed a gun at her during a heated argument at his house in Tarzana, California.

She told U.S. news outlet Extra that Brown flew into a rage after noticing her admiring a piece of jewellery. She and a friend managed to escape unharmed, and when cops arrived on the scene to investigate, they were denied entry into Brown’s mansion to look for the alleged weapon.

Detectives filed papers for a search warrant, which was granted hours later, allowing them to enter the R&B star’s home around 1pm local time, following a stand-off Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Bob Green described as “long and protracted”.

At least six members of the star’s entourage exited the property as cops gained entry, and Geragos arrived just before the warrant was served, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The 27-year-old eventually surrendered peacefully and was spotted talking to authorities outside his home, before, hours later, being officially taken into LAPD custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.

Following news of Brown’s arrest, Bruno Mars was among the stars who tweeted support for the singer, writing: “Prayin for ya @chrisbrown we need ya (sic).”

Meanwhile, former wrestler Hulk Hogan wrote on his Twitter page, “Praying for Chris Brown only love”, before later adding, “Chris needs to start loving God and get correct.”

Singer Ray J went one step further by posting a video on his Instagram, backing Chris’ claims that he was being unfairly demonised by police.

“I’m real upset about today,” he began. “I’m not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be.

“And to react like that, so fast without really knowing the facts … It’s just not right. It shouldn’t be like this. I support the homie Chris and I support the whole movement… This shit gotta change. It ain’t cool.”
