The family of Chris Cornell is suing the late singer’s doctor Robert Koblin for negligence following the death of the singer from suicide brought on by drugs in May 2017.
Associated Press reports that Koblin prescribed over 940 doses of the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam (Ativan) to Chris Cornell between September 2015 and May 2017.
The Cornell family suit claims Koblin also prescribed Oxycodone (Endone) but have never examined the singer.
The suit alleges negligence and wilful misconduct. The family claims Chris was never warned of the side-effects of the drugs and that Lorazepam can increase the risk of suicide in some individuals.
Cornell’s autopsy discovered a significant amount of Ativan and six other drugs in his system. The coroner’s report listed cause of death as suicide and not a drug overdose.
Chris Cornell died on 17 May, 2017 at age 52.
