Chris Cornell says that comments he made during the Soundgarden set at the Big Day Out in the Gold Coast on Sunday were directed at the BDO organisers, not Kanye West.

Kanye could be heard soundchecking while Soundgarden were performing at the event. It pissed Cornell off so much he told the crowd, “”Sounds like there’s children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in held back….There’s no other word for it.”
That was translated by some media as “Cornell was pissed off with Kanye West”. Cornell took to Twitter today to set the record straight.
“My comments @ BDO were directed solely at inadequate tour production. Kanye had nothing to do with it! We love him.”
Big Day Out heads to Sydney this Thursday and then onto Melbourne on Sunday.
