The report from the toxicologist is in reporting that Chris Cornell had four prescription drugs in his system at the time of his death.

Cornell was found dead in his Detroit hotel room on Thursday, May 18 hours after he finished a concert with Soundgarden. Authorities ruled it a suicide after he was found with an exercise band around his neck.

The report said that Cornell had Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant) and barbiturates in his system although it is believed that the Naloxone had been administered by EMT personnel in an attempt to revive him.

Vicky Cornell, Chris’ widow, issued a statement after the report was issued:

Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system. After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind.

Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back. We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.

The toxicologist said that Cornell had four Lorazepam (Ativan) in his system, a drug that Vicky Cornell had pointed to early in the investigation as over taking the drug can lead to thoughts of suicide.
