The video for the new Chuck Berry song ‘Big Boys’ is Chuck’s first ever music video.

Prior to his upcoming album, Chuck (out June 9), Chuck Berry hadn’t released an album since 1979’s Rock It.

At that time, there were few music videos. Sure, there had been promotional films all the way back to the thirties and Michael Nesmith was experimenting with the format, but it would be two years before MTV would take the world by storm and launch the music video revolution.

On Wednesday (May 17), the very first official music video for a Chuck Berry songs was released with the song Big Boys. Berry, who died on March 18, doesn’t appear in the video although there is an actor playing a young version of Chuck, but listen to that voice! Recorded during the last years of his life at the age of, at least, 87, Berry sounds strong and sure of himself.

The ‘Chuck’ album will be released in June.
