Clare Bowditch has released a very moving film clip for her new single, ‘One Little River’, from her 2012 album, The Winter I Chose Happiness.
Made in France, the film clip was directed by Hélène Authevelle and Christophe Thiebaut.
For the full effect of the story, watch the clip before reading any more about it.
The video appears to tell the story of a woman whose partner is killed while serving in the military. She writes of her devastation and sends her story out into the river in a bottle, where it travels, presumably to the other side of the world, where another grieving woman discovers it.
The message of the song is to “Let it all out” – that everyone holds onto pain, so if we are all feeling it, why not just let someone know, as a way to begin the healing process.
Clare will take her ‘Winter Secrets Tour’ around Australia in August, where she lists the audience as her special guests, due to the extensive audience participation in the show. Tickets are on sale now, with all dates and details available at her website.
A singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur and mother of three, Clare spoke to Noise 11’s Paul Cashmere last year about all of the projects she has on the go and how she balances that with family life.
