The tragic songstress passed away on February 11 last year after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

Whitney was found dead ahead of Clive’s prestigious annual pre-Grammys party, and the music mogul has revealed in the days before the anniversary of her death that he is “feeling keenly the loss” of his friend and colleague.

Clive is now gearing up for his annual bash on Saturday and has promised to do something special to honour the late star.

“[I’m] going to do something to remind everybody that her talent lived among us and in so many people,” he told People.

CBS network are airing a special program dedicated to Whitney on the same night as Clive’s pre-Grammys party. The 80-year-old record producer is sure the episode will highlight Whitney’s greatest moments.

“I wanted her special to be meaningful and touching,” he gushed.

“I wanted everyone to remember why she was the greatest in her generation. I’m a great believer in carrying the torch and making sure that her legacy is as glittering as it should be. I’m very involved in that, emotionally and musically.”

Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston has slammed Clive, calling her invite to his party “obscene”. She explained how her request to attend the high-profile bash is in terribly poor taste as she’d hate to celebrate such a tragic anniversary.

‘I got an invitation to the party – which is the most obscene thing,’ she explained. ‘I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of. I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.’
