Coldplay ‘Ghost Stories’ is the fastest selling album in Australia this year with 34097 copies sold in the first week while every judge on the new season of The Voice has had a dismal sales failure.
The uptake of the Coldplay record overshadows last weeks no .1 debut from The Black Keys ‘Turn Blue’ with 7500 sales in week one and second week sales of 3020 bringing its tally to 10520 after two weeks.
The much hyped Michael Jackson ‘Xscape’ generated 6665 sales first week after three days on sale and 5495 for its first full seven days on the shelf generating a two week tally of 12610, placing it ahead of the no. 1 debuting Black Keys record.
What is interesting is the lack of interest in The Voice judges new releases. No judge on The Voice should be criticising the contests because their own sales all stink.
Ricky Martin ‘Greatest Hits’ came in at a lukewarm no 40 position on 548 sales. Kylie Minogue is at 130 with her flop ‘Kiss Me Once’ welling 231 copies despite her profile lifted in front of 2 million Australians as a judge on The Voice.
will.i.am’s #WILLPOWER has sold a measly 218 copies while Black Eyed Peas have inspired another 704 fans to download ‘I Gotta Feeling’.
Joel Madden faired the worst. Good Charlotte ‘Greatest Hits’ sold 86 copies last week.
