The British rockers played a concert in Brisbane on Wednesday after which frontman Chris Martin suggested the band has grown tired of touring.

Coldplay has been on tour since October 2011 promoting their latest record, Mylo Xyloto.

“This is the last big show for three years or so,’ he told reporters after the show, while adding, “I don’t want to stop.’

The announcement came just a few days after the band hinted at the impending release of their next record.

“The next one we’re releasing is much easier to pronounce,’ he told Australian radio station 2dayfm.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform with Chris’ longtime friend Jay-Z at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on December 30 and on New Year’s Eve. The band also has several concerts booked in Latin America in February 2013.

It was unclear if they would continue playing smaller shows after those dates.

Coldplay has released five studio albums since 2000.

Drummer Will Champion recently spoke about the difficulties of touring full time and missing his family.

‘We were in Las Vegas and I got a call to say one of my kids was in hospital. That’s when it’s tough being on the road and away from your family,’ he recalls in the band’s new film Coldplay Live 2012.

Chris also shares two children with wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
