Joy of joys, Coldplay’s new album knocks Adele off the top in this week’s ARIA Chart wrap.

Not that we have any particular feelings one way or another about either album, but it makes our life more interesting to report that after a seemingly indomitable run at number one, Adele’s 21 has been unseated by Coldplay’s new album Mylo Xyloto.

There were also a decent number of other debuts this week, Adele being sandwiched by Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger at number three.

Darren Hayes’ Secret Codes And Battleships debuted at ten, Tom Waits’ Bad As Me hit number eleven, and French stadium dance duo Justice nabbed eighteenth with Audio, Video, Disco.

More good news for Aussies, as Washington’s ‘Insomnia’ EP popped in at 24, Melbourne folk act Husky’s lovely Forever So hit 33 and INXS’s The Very Best came in at 39.

Young UK singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran’s + was the final new entry at 41.

Following a brief promo tour, soul man Aloe Blacc’s Good Things re-entered the chart at 34, and his single ‘I Need A Dollar’ shot back from 50 to 26 on the singles chart.

More re-entries come in the form of The Very Best Of Crowded House at 43 and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream at 47.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds slumped in its second week, from 16 to 31 but otherwise things remained pretty steady.

Sadly, Coldplay’s ascendance might be short-lived. Christmas is coming and you know what Grandma is going to buy you.
