Coldplay have written and performed a song for Houston as a once-off and vowed immediately to never perform the song again.
‘Houston’ is about the flooding of the American city, the natural disaster rivalling Katrina. “This is a new song, and we’ll never play it again,” Chris Martin said to the Miami audience. “It’s a once-off. It’s called ‘Houston.’ We’re going to sing it in Miami for everybody here and then we’re going to send it over there to everyone who missed the show”
Chris Martin acknowledged the musical influence that Texas has had on Coldplay. He said he “grew up loving country music, and, of course, that’s kind of what we think of when we go to Texas.”
