70’s and 80’s country star T.G. Sheppard is in a Nashville-area hospital intensive care unit with a serious infection of the kidneys that has moved into his blood stream.
Sheppard, 68, originally entered the hospital over the weekend with a bladder infection that caused a high heart rate. According to his wife, Kelly Lang, the infection has since spread.
Lang originally posted:
He was admitted in ICU with a bladder infection that has caused extreme high heart rate. He is very weak and they are trying to keep his heart rate down, but it has been a challenge. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Love, Kelly.
Later she posted an update:
I hesitate to share this now, but I do want you to know how serious T.G’s condition has been. The bladder infection had spread into his bloodstream and is very hard to treat. That being said, it is the reason for his still being in the Critical Care Unit. I feel that he is getting better, but certainly not great. He is resting OK, still in pain.”
Sheppard had 14 number 1 country songs between 1974 and 1984 including I Loved ‘Em Every One and Devil in the Bottle.
