Even though it was originally announced that George Jones would only be hospitalized overnight for observation of a respiratory ailment, it is now known that he is being kept until Tuesday. Jones first entered the hospital on Thursday.
A statement on Jones’ site updated the situation:
“George Jones remains hospitalized with an upper respiratory infection. Reports that Mr. Jones has pneumonia, are simply false. Mr. Jones is being treated with antibiotics in order to clear up his respiratory infection and will remain in a Nashville area hospital until Tuesday,” says Kirt Webster, publicist for George Jones.
“Thanks to all my fans and friends for their prayers and support during this time,” adds George Jones.
Jones next show is scheduled for April 20 at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.
