Melbourne singer songwriter Courtney Barnett is one of the recipients of the Grulke Prize awarded by SXSW.
The Grulke Prize was founded three years ago following the sudden death of SXSW creative director Brent Grulke in August 2012. The award includes $10,000 cash plus a two-day studio and hotel package at Nightbird Recording Studio and Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles.
Courtney Barnett was awarded the prize following the release of her new album ‘Sometimes I Sit and Thing, Sometimes I Just Think’. Courtney showcased the record at SXSW in Austin, Texas this March.
Developing US act Leon Bridges and established longtime act Spoon were also recipients of the Grulke Prize for 2015.
