Courtney Love regrets who she married.
The platinum blonde has been a tabloid favourite since the early 90s, with her marriage to troubled rocker Kurt Cobain dominating headlines before, and after, his 1994 suicide.
She’d been married once before, to The Leaving Trains vocalist James Moreland, and her love life will always be one of Courtney’s great regrets.
“I have a lot of regrets, of course I do. I shouldn’t have married that one, I should have taken that part; I should have maybe married that one, I don’t know, but I didn’t,” she pondered to Girls star Jemima Kirke for Citizens of Humanity magazine.
“So I am what I am and I’m pretty confident that I can break in. I think what I have to offer on film and on television is honest and I’m more disciplined than I was ever before.”
Music may have launched Courtney, but the Hole singer has moved into the world of acting too. She’s a TV regular, with recurring roles in Sons of Anarchy, Empire and Revenge. Next up she’s starring opposite James Franco and Josh Hartnett in movie The Long Home.
Life wasn’t always so kind to Courtney though, and she’s the first to admit there have been some really dark days.
“I mean, even when I stepped out from doing films and had a dark period, I never did anything dark on a set, so I never made enemies on a set. I never was a bad girl on a set; I always considered films a really sacred space, so when I had my problems, I had them very much away from the film community,” she confessed.
Despite dips in both her career and personal life, the 51-year-old remains an icon. Courtney’s glad her 90s persona seems to be slipping away, but she remains current thanks to friends like Miley Cyrus.
“Miley Cyrus asked me to come and have a drink with her at the Chateau, so I went and had coffee with her. I ended up taking her over to Brett Ratner’s [director], whos basically my best friend in town. I have not made any music with Miley Cyrus. I don’t know that that would be a good match, but she’s really put together and smart. I liked her a lot,” she praised.
