Craig Nicholls, the frontman for The Vines, was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly went into a violent rage at his parent’s house in Sydney.
Police were called to the house in Sydney’s Connells Point and were forced to use capsicum spray on Nicholls before they could arrest him.
The 35-year old singer has been accused of assaulting his parents. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a policeman was also injured during the altercation.
Nicholls has been charged with five offences including domestic assault. He will appear before the Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday).
The Vines rose to fame off the back of the ‘Highly Evolved’ album in 2002. It sold 1.5 million. Nicholls was later diagnosed with Asperger syndrome.
Nicholls has a history of violent outbursts. In 2002 the band was thrown off the Tonight Show with Jay Leno after Nicholls smashed a drum kit during rehearsal.
