Cyndi Lauper is set to receive the inaugural High Note Global Award for her work with the LGBTQ community next month.

Lauper will receive the award thanks to her work with her organisation True Colours United foundation and the annual Home For The Holidays concert for the organisation.

“Cyndi Lauper is the 2019 High Note Global Prize laureate,” the High Note Global Initiative website states. “Throughout her career, Cyndi Lauper has been a LGBTQ rights supporter and advocate, tirelessly campaigning for equality through various charities and events around the world.

“In 2008, Lauper co-founded True Colors United after learning that while 10% of American youth identify themselves as LGBTQ, up to 40% of American youth experiencing homelessness do so. The organization works to prevent and end youth homelessness, focusing on the unique experiences of LGBTQ youth.”

Home For the Holidays has been taking place annually since 2011. This year’s lineup features Kesha, Belinda Carlisle, Henry Rollins, Marilyn Manson, Margaret Cho and of course Cyndi Lauper. It will be hosted by Carson Kressley.

It is understood that Kesha will present the award to Lauper on the night.

Home For The Holidays will take place in The NOVO at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, December 10.

Tickets can be bought here.
