The legendary Dame Julie Andrews will tour Australia for the very first time in May.
The 77-year old star has been working professionally since the age of 13 when she first performed on London’s West End.
In 1954 she made her Broadway debut in The Boy Friend and then worked in a string of hit musicals such as ‘My Fair Lady’ and ‘Camelot’.
Dame Julie first appeared on television in 1957 as Cinderella.
In 1964, Julie made her movie debut as Mary Poppins in ‘Mary Poppins’. It earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. The following year, she starred in another major picture ‘The Sound of Music’ as Sister Maria.
Julie Andrew’s box-office successes include ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’, Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Tom Curtain and ‘Hawaii’. In 1982 she played a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman in ‘Victor/Victoria’.
