Dan Sultan is touring in support of the Rock For Recognition movement to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the Australian Constitution.
Sultan hopes that by building support for the movement, the public’s awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will increase stating that “Our country is home to the oldest continuing cultures in this world; it’s something for all of us to value and be proud of” he said.
Sultan’s ‘Back To Basics’ tour will take in 14 solo dates as well as 4 shows with Bruce ‘The Boss’ Springsteen. The tour will kick off in Alice Springs at the Mbantua Festival on October 12th.
Rock for Recognition is a joint initiative between ANTaR and Oxfam Australia. Oxfam Australia’s Indigenous Rights Policy Advisor Andrew Mehan had this to say,
