When news of Sisto’s murder broke there was an immediate outpouring from the Melbourne community, celebrities, sports stars and politicians.
Vale Sisto. You brought flavour, sustenance, coolness & culture to this land. Your food & coffee helped make this the most livable city in the world. I remember well a time when migrants like us were feared. May your spirit of hospitality live on ???☕️? https://t.co/k6UFDK0FN3

Sisto, thank you. You hosted our family so many times at Pellagrinis: first my parents, then us kids, then our kids. Desperately sad news. Heartfelt condolences to all of your family #sisto #SistoMalaspina #pellagrinis

Heart broken that we lost such a great man of Pellegrini’s and a friend to so many (including me) Sisto Malaspina , to a senseless act of violence in Melbourne. Sisto thank you for the love you gave us all, you will be missed mate. R.I .P pic.twitter.com/gjSAjgFV5I

He was like a favourite uncle . One of the reasons I love going to Melbourne, because I knew I’d get that greeting. When we met I was a badly paid theatre actor, he always treated me like a Prince. La famiglia. All the best to you Damian. https://t.co/gpnGS6k1js

Calls have also been made to have Crossley Street, the street down the side of Pellegrini’s restaurant, renamed Sisto Street. Daniel Andrews backs the plans.
Details for the State Funeral will be announced soon for later this week.
UPDATE:
The State Funeral for Sisto Malaspina will be held at St Patrick's Cathedral in East Melbourne, at 10:30am on Tuesday 20 November. It will be an opportunity to celebrate this remarkable Victorian, who brought love, life, colour and flavour to our city. Further details to come.
