Former Silverchair frontman has revealed the video for his debut single, the soulful ‘Aerial Love’.
On ‘Aerial Love’ Johns has abandoned the Silverchair ‘Nirvana in Pyjamas’ grunge for a smooth and tasty Marvin Gaye sounding song.
The ‘Aerial Love’ video was directed by Lorin Akill (Flume & Chet Faker, Sia, Phoenix). It was shot at the Stockton Dunes near Newcastle using dune camera technology.
“The dunes actually looked spectacular but it was all pretty intense,” Johns said in a statement. “The whole idea was to capture big aerial perspectives by using drone cameras that can fly by remote control. The winds were too strong in the first 24 hours though so they couldn’t film anything. We finally started shooting on the second day but it was still 35 degrees in the shade and there were lots of sandstorms. It was like we were filming one of those desert scenes from Star Wars! I felt like I needed a droid.”
Johns wrote ‘Aerial Love’ with Lorde and Joel Little.
The ‘Aerial Love’ EP will be released in March.
