Darryl Cotton Farewelled In Melbourne

The funeral for Darryl Cotton, the Australian singer and TV presenter who passed away in Melbourne last Friday, was held today (August 1, 2012) at the Comedy Theatre.

The 62-year old entertainer was diagnosed with liver cancer in May.

Darryl Cotton first rose to fame in Australia as a member of Adelaide band Zoot with Rick Springfield, Beeb Birtles and Rick Brewer.

He had his own solo hit in the 80s with ‘Same Ol’ Girl’ and the n went into television hosting The Early Bird Show.

In recent years he has toured with Russell Morris and Jim Keays in Cotton, Keays and Morris.

A memorial concert for Darryl Cotton will be announced next week.
