Fans began mourning the death of Aussie pop legend Daryl Braithwaite on Twitter on Saturday afternoon when he became a trending topic.
The news of the death of Daryl travelled fast in cyberspace and seemed to reach everyone … except for Daryl who tells Noise11 that his premature passing may have been a little exaggerated.
This morning he told Noise11.com that he didn’t even know he was dead until we told him. “I don’t twitter so I am in the dark …….. Ha ha,” he said.
Twitter has been a breeding ground for celebrity death hoaxes. Bobby Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Taylor Launter, Harrison Ford, Rick Astley and Justin Bieber are just some of the famous names killed off in tweets.
Daryl was alive and well and singing his hit song ‘The Horses’ to the horses and race-goers at Moonee Valley on Saturday afternoon when Twitter had his number up. “In my opinion I was some distance away from death yesterday at The Valley with all those people,” he tells us.
After Meat Loaf’s embarrassing AFL performance some weeks back, Daryl received a thumbs up for the crowd at the races. “Watching Daryl Braithwaite at the Cox Plate. Hope the AFL are watching; after the GF Debacle; I bet he doesn’t cost as much and was fabulous,” one fan posted.
His next gig is Thursday at the Hallam Hotel in Melbourne and then Friday at Milanos in Brighton.
Daryl will release a DVD soon. Watch the trailer here:
