Dave Davies of The Kinks is planning to go back on the road and create a documentary along the way.
Davies is raising funds for the production of the movie via IndieGogo. $30,000 is needed from fans all over the world to get the show on the road.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the road. It will be great to make a high quality documentary capturing both live performance and behind the scenes action,” Dave said in a presentation for the crowd funding.
Dave Davies founded the legendary British band The Kinks with his brother Ray in Muswell Hill, North London in 1964. The band had a string of hits starting with the now genuine rock classic ‘You Really Got Me’ and then ‘All Day And All of the Night’, ‘Tired Of Waiting For You’, ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’, ‘Waterloo Sunset’, ‘Apeman’ and ‘Lola’.
Dave created the unique sound of ‘You Really Got Me’ by cutting the speaker cone on his amplifier. The song reached number 1 in the UK, 7 in the USA and number 2 in Australia.
Dave has five US dates planned for November, 2013.
They are:
November 12, New York City, City Winery
November 14, Englewood, NJ, Bergen Performing Arts Center
November 16, Niagara Falls, Seneca Niagara Casino
November 18, Chicago, City Winery
November 19, Evanston, Il, Space
