Dave Davies, lead guitarist and founding member for The Kinks, will perform his first show in 13 years in the UK in April.
Dave’s guitar style was the inspiration for Green Day and Van Halen.
Davies will perform the London show to mark his 50th anniversary of the Kinks, the band he formed with his brother Ray in Muswell Hill, North London in 1964.
The Kinks became world famous with their third single ‘You Really Got Me’. The song was also the first hit single for Van Halen 14 years later in 1977. Dave and Ray Davies wrote the two-chord classic on a piano of the front room of their family home at 6 Denmark Terrace, Fortis Green. It is now considered one of the greatest songs of all time. Rolling Stone placed it at no. 80 best song of all time on their 2011 poll.
In 2004 Dave suffered a stroke. It was too years before he was able to walk, talk and play guitar again.
Recently Dave revealed he was talking to his brother suggesting that a Kinks reunion may also be possible at sometime in the not to distant future.
Dave Davies will appear at the Barbican Hall, London on April 11, 2014.
