Dave Grohl Is Up For An Emmy Award

Dave Grohl could earn himself an Emmy Award after Foo Fighters ‘Sonic Highways’ was nominated this week.

A number of music-based programs have been nominated for the 67th Annual Emmy Awards.

Bessie, the HBO movie on the life of blues great Bessie Smith, was nominated for six awards including Television Movie, Lead Actress (Queen Latifah), Supporting Actor (Michael Kenneth Williams), Supporting Actress (Mo’Nique), Writing and Direction.

Dave Grohl has two nominations for his Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, Best Information Series or Special and Outstanding Direction for Grohl.

The film Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is up for Documentary or Non-Fiction Special and Writing while Sinatra: All or Nothing or All competes with it in the Documentary category.

The Grammy Awards were recognized with three nominations for Production Design, Lighting Design and Sound Mixing while the Academy’s Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life – An All-Star GRAMMY Salute received on nod for Music Direction.

The Emmys will be presented on September 20.

Dave Grohl said he had lost count of the number of times Foo Fighters have toured Australia “10, 20, 100”. The answer is actually 13. Foo Fighters first toured Australia on the Summersault Festival in 1995. They were back in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2015, 2018 and for that one-off show in Geelong in 2022. The early tours were mainly club shows. The biggest they got in those first 10 years (outside festivals) was a Festival Hall show in Melbourne. The first arena show was in 2005 and for the past 10 years it has been stadiums.
