The Foo Fighters frontman debuted the film, about a legendary Los Angeles music studio, at the Sundance Film Festival.

He recorded Sound City ‘ Real to Reel as a companion album for the project. The album features tracks with Paul McCartney and Dave’s former Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.

A press release issued by Kobalt Music Group on Tuesday indicates the musician has signed an exclusive worldwide deal with the company.

Under the terms of the agreement, Kobalt executives ‘will immediately begin to provide creative and synch services for Sound City – Real to Reel’ and several other works by Dave.

Kobalt will also begin representing Dave’s publishing catalogue in 2014.

The catalogue includes his work with the Foo Fighters and his collaborative project with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme called Them Crooked Vultures. It will also include his work with Nirvana. The band recorded its 1991 album Nevermind at Sound City Studios.

“As a rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and film director, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, Dave is a force and an immense and diverse talent with a catalogue of amazing songs. We look forward to a long relationship and the new ”Sound City – Real to Reel” album due next month,’ Kobalt CEO Willard Ahdritz said in a statement.

Sound City is scheduled for release later this year.
