When Dave Kerzner created his Genesis-influenced new song ‘Dirty Soap Box’ he went right to the source and recruited Steve Hackett to join him on the song.
Hackett was a member of Genesis for six albums from 1971’s ‘Nursery Crime’ through to 1976’s ‘Wind & Wuthering’.
“I wanted to make reference to my deep rooted influences of early Genesis in this song,” says Kerzner. “Having Steve Hackett join us for this modern day ‘Broadway Melody’ type adventure through current events completed the picture for me.”
Steve Hackett previously worked with Kerzner on his song ‘Stranded’ from his debut album ‘New World’.
Dave Kerzner Genesis roots cross over to his band Sound of Contact. Kerzner formed Sound of Contact with Simon Collins in 2009. Collins is the son of Genesis drummer Phil Collins.
Kerzner played on Simon Collins’ album U-Catastrophe. Hackett was also on that album.
