Dave Madden, the Canadian actor who play Reuben Kincade in the 70s TV sitcom The Partridge Family, has died in Florida at the age of 82.
Madden played the band’s manager in the TV show based on real life family pop group The Cowsills.
The Partridge Family ran for four seasons from September 25, 1970 to March 23, 1974.
While actors played the members of The Partridge Family, the mother Shirley Jones was already a big name Broadway musical star when she got the role of Shirley Partridge. Her real-life step-son David Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge in the show, became one of the biggest popstars of the 70s because of the series.
Madden started his entertainment career as a magician. That led to a 3-night spot on the Ed Sullivan Show (at the recommendation of Frank Sinatra) and his first acting role in the short-lived sitcom Camp Runamuck.
Dave Madden went on to a comedy role in Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-in in 1968 and 1969 and then won the role of Reuben Kincade in The Partridge Family.
After The Partridge Family, Madden made many guest appearances in other popular sitcoms including Bewitched, The Love Boat, Happy Days and Fantasy Island.
Madden died in Fruit Cove, Florida of congestive heart and kidney failure.
