Australian singer Vanessa Amorosi was one of Dave Stewart’s main circus act for the ‘VaVOOM Rock & Roll Circus’ event at the El Rey in Los Angeles on Friday night (March 14, 2014).
The Melbourne singer-songwriter has been working with Stewart for a number of years now, most recently on his ‘Lucky Numbers’ album where she sings on three tracks.
At LA’s iconic venue Friday, Vanessa belted out her soul driven voice to the likes of Eurythmics ‘Sweet Dreams’, The Stones ‘Gimme Shelter’ and more Eurythmics ‘Would I Lie To You?’.
Dave, who also hosts his TV show ‘The Ringmaster’ on BiteSizeTV, was master of ceremonies for this special live event.
The show also gave Stewart the platform to showcase his daughter Kaya Stewart, who has been working on her debut album. Kaya took lead vocals for The Beatles’ ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’.
Grace Potter was there too for ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’ after The Ringmaster himself opened the show with Bob Dylan’s ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’.
Stewart’s ‘VaVoom…A Rock & Roll Circus’ comes off the back of a trilogy of solo albums from The Ringmaster, ‘The Blackbird Diaries’ (2011), ‘The Ringmaster General’ (2012) and ‘Lucky Numbers’ (2013)’.
Dave Stewart’s next major event is a concert to mark The Beatles 50th Anniversary at the Hollywood Bowl. ‘Here There and Everywhere – The Beatles 50th at the Bowl’.
Stewart and friends will recreate the classic Beatles setlist from half a century ago for the show. Dates are August 22, 23 and 24.
Stewart and Annie Lennox recently reformed Eurythmics for one song only to pay tribute to The Beatles to mark the 50th anniversary of the band’s appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. They performed ‘Fool On The Hill’.
