David Bowie’s sixth album ‘Aladdin Sane’ has been given a make-over for its 40th Anniversary.
Ray Staff at London’s AIR Studio was given the job of cleaning up the classic Bowie record.
‘Aladdin Sane’, the follow-up to ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’, was originally released on April 13, 1973. At the time Bowie described the album was “Ziggy goes to America’.
The album was recorded at Trident Studio, London and RCA Studios in New York with additional sessions in Nashville between October 6, 1972 and January 24, 1973.
It was be to be the last album on which the Spiders From Mars line-up of Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, backing vocals), Trevor Bolder (bass) and Mick ‘Woody’ Woodmansey (drums) would appear.
‘Aladdin Sane’ featured the debut of one of avant-jazz pianist Mike Garson. Bowie himself played guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone on the album.
