David Bowie sent his Christmas greeting to the BBC radio program This is Radio Clash but, instead of sounding like David Bowie, he decided to imitate Elvis Presley.
Bowie had this to say when he called up the radio show hosted by Mick Jones, Paul Simonen and Topper Headon of The Clash on BBC 6 on Boxing Day.
“Hello everybody, this is David Bowie making a telephone call from the US of A. At this time of the year I can’t help but remember my British-ness and all the jolly British folk, so here’s to you and have yourselves a Merry little Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you very much.”
David Bowie and Elvis Presley share the same birthday, January 6. Elvis was 12-years old than Bowie. Bowie once asked Elvis to record his song ‘Golden Years’ but Elvis declined. Bowie made his musical comeback in 2013 surprising fans with the release of ‘Where Are They Now’ on his birthday. It was his first new music in 10 years and came without warning on his 66th birthday. In March he released the album ‘The Next Day’. It was his 24th studio album and first album since ‘Reality’ in 2003. Read more at VVN Music Stay updated with your free Noise11 daily music newsletter.
