It is getting to be a normal occurrence to have concerts and documentaries on music artists play in movie theaters for one night events, but we’ve never had a museum exhibit.
David Bowie’s Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition, David Bowie is…., will be shown in theaters across the U.K. on August 13 to coincide with the closing of the show before going on the road. The event will be hosted by the curators of the exhibit, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh and will include the stories behind many of the 300 items in the show.
Also included will be a number of unnamed special guests; however, Bowie, himself, will hot be part of the presentation.
Martin Roth, director of the Victoria and Albert museum, said “This is the first time the V&A has taken part in a live broadcast event of this magnitude and we are extremely excited to be working with such a talented production team to present the phenomenon that is David Bowie to the widest possible audience.”
Hamish Hamilton, who directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics, will helm.
David Bowie is… will travel next to Toronto followed by Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Great news for fans of the uber-talented Todd Rundgren.
In 2008, for a week on the glorious isle of Kauai, in Hawaii, about 300 fans from all over the world joined the Rundgrens at their incredible home to celebrate his 60th birthday. This became known as ToddStock; a week of camping, drinking, singing and celebrating.
