A new mix of David Bowie’s 1977 ‘Sound and Vision’ single from the ‘Low’ album will be released next month.
‘Sound and Vision’ 2013 has been remixed by Sonjay Prabhakar from the original stems to bring to the surface Ray Young’s piano and the backing vocal by Mary Hopkin (credited as Mary Visconti on the original release).
Mary Hopkin was one of the artists signed to The Beatles Apple label. After being discovered and signed to Apple by Paul McCartney, she became a global star with hits ‘Goodbye’. ‘Temma Harbour’, ‘Those Were The Days’ and ‘Knock Knock Who’s There’.
The new version was commissioned for the Sony Xperia Z smartphone ad campaign, directed by Rarsem Singh, who was the director of the award winning R.E.M. ‘Losing My Religion’ video.
Mary married producer Tony Visconti who produced ‘Low’ for Bowie as well as ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger’ as well as Bowie’s recent album ‘A New Day’.
The new ‘Sound and Vision’ 2013 will be released on October 4, 2013 through Warner Music.
