David Bridie’s first solo album in six years, The Wisdom Line’, will be accompanied by 11 short films for the 11 songs.
David will launch the album in Melbourne with a premiere screening and Q&A at the Thornbury Picture House on 12 March as well as a screen and solo performance at Classic Cinemas in Elsternwick on 20 March. He will tour the album in June.
David’s video makers hail from Slovenia, America and Australia. These include “Nicole Ma’s Permanant Water, which features footage from her award-winning 2015 documentary Putuparri and the Rainmakers and features the mysterious character Putuparri, representing the spirit of Indigenous desert people who walk the land past, present and future; photographer L.J.Spruyt’s, Red (2000 Miles from the Fair) which leads a journey through the Australian desert, contrasting the stark beauty and wisdom of the land against the beckoning plastic promise of ‘the fair’; and video artist Keith Deverell’s She’s Upped and Gone, a haunting impression of Sydney streets at night, shot on an iPhone and Prisms. The films are released online each month, with Deverell and L.J.Spruyt’s films as well as Matej Kolmanko’s The Abyss”.
‘The Wisdom Line’ was produced by Ian Caple and recorded in Melbourne, Australia and Eastbourne, UK.
