David Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge in the Partridge Family, has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Sony Pictures Entertainment over royalties from his 70s hit sitcom The Partridge Family.
Cassidy is seeking payment for merchandise sold during his tenure in the TV show featuring his name and/or likeness. Cassidy says that in the time he was with the show he earned no more than $15,000 from merch sales and estimates his share of the royalties is in excess of $10 million.
David Cassidy has urged Los Angeles Superior Judge Joseph Kalin to hear the case and preserve his right to a trial by a jury of her peers and wants Sony to pay him the monies he claims he is owed.
Sony wants to hold the case behind a cloak of private arbitration.
The ruling is currently under consideration.
