The very electric The Dead Daisies will embark on their first UK tour this week with Black Star Riders and it all started with acoustic guitars.

Rhythm guitarist, founder and co-writer David Lowy says he and Jon Stevens initially wrote the songs on acoustic guitar. “If it sounds good on an acoustic guitar it is going to sound good,” David tells Noise11.com. “We sat around with acoustic guitars and spent 5 or 6 days and did 30 songs the first time we sat down together so we knew it was something that was going to work for us”.

The band for the UK tour features members of Guns N’ Roses and now Darryl Jones, the Rolling Stones bass player since 1993. David Lowy and Noiseworks singer Jon Stevens started the band.

“Jon and I worked really well together, David said. “We hit it off as soon as we sat down with a couple of guitars and we’ve got very complimentary skills. Its come together well. We are a good team together and we put a good team together”.

That “good team” will include Richard Fortus (Guns N Roses, Psychedelic Furs), Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses), Charley Drayton (Divinyls, Cold Chisel) and Jones of The Stones when the tour begins in Camden, UK on Wednesday.

The Dead Daisies debut album self-titled album was released in time for the UK tour.
