Shock Records founder David Williams has launched his new music group David Roy Williams Music.
Williams, one of the innovators of the Australian music industry, founded Shock Records in Melbourne in 1988 and created the business platform for the independent music scene. The label oversaw the releases for TISM, Dan Kelly, Ani Difranco, The Fauves and The offspring.
Williams left Shock in 2011 and set up touring company Tombowler. Tombowler is touring upcoming shows by Sebastian Bach, Lifehouse, Hellyeah, Helloween and Anathema.
Taking an opposing view to the mainstream, Williams sees the industry in a good place right now and the uncertainty of others is the platform for his current success. “There’s a lot of uncertainty about the future of the music business but the pessimists have got it wrong – Anarchy is cool! …and right now is an incredibly exciting time to be in the music biz. There’s amazing new music, Australian artists are seeing unprecedented success and recognition internationally, and everything is changing – what a great time to get involved and be a part of those changes!”
David Roy Williams Music will operate as a record label as well as touring company and offer additional services to the music industry.
The company David Roy Williams Music now consists of:
