Would somebody PLEASE publish of listing of those music artists that are willing to let the Republican Party use their music.
Ever since the 2008 election, a long line of musicians have taken Republican candidates to task about using their music in ads and at rallies. Their contention is that the use of the music is a de facto endorsement of that candidate and their views.
The latest is Dee Snider from Twisted Sister who has told the Romney/Ryan campaign to stop using their hit We’re Not Gonna Take It, which Ryan recently used at a rally. Snider released a statement to the website Talking Points Memo saying “I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song, We’re Not Gonna Take It, in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the P90X.”
Snider’s complaint follows close on the heels of a full cease and desist order from the band Silversun Pickups and an op-ed piece written by Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine denouncing Ryan after the candidate said he liked their music.
The Romney camp is said to be reviewing Snider’s comment.
