Alt-metal innovators Deftones are back in the studio recording their seventh album and will tour with SOAD.
The band have announced that they’ll head out on tour across the US with a reformed System Of A Down in August.
They’ve also revealed that they’re back in the studio, recording a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2010 album Diamond Eyes.
The band are in LA recording their next full-length with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has worked with Foo Fighters and Alice In Chains and also worked on Diamond Eyes.
Frontman Chino Moreno spoke to Chilean site La Tercera earlier this month about the new material: “I know everybody says this, but I believe this is the best record we’ve made. I’m very enthusiastic, because it sounds futuristic in comparison to our last one, so it feels like a step forward.”
He continued, “The songs are very different from each other, not heavier or slower, but more dynamic, going towards several directions, it’s heavy, but beautiful.”
Their former bassist Chi Cheng remains in a coma following a 2008 car accident.
Their seventh album will be released on Reprise Records later this year.
