Singer Demi Lovato doesn’t talk to fellow pop star Selena Gomez any more.
The two musicians struck up a close friendship after starring alongside each other on children’s TV show Barney & Friends.
Their relationship has gone through many ups and downs as they’ve become adults and despite posting a picture of them pulling silly faces together earlier this month (Sep15), Demi claims they are no longer close.
‘Nope,’ she replied when asked by Complex magazine if they still talk. The outlet continued to ask if it was because of Selena’s on-off relationship with Canadian singer Justin Bieber, to which Demi answered, ‘Not really. Not anymore.’
The Cool for the Summer singer went on to praise the 21-year-old for getting himself back on track after a tumultuous couple of years which saw him have a number of run ins with the law.
‘He’s actually a nice guy. I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up. He looks like he’s maturing,’ she explained. ‘But, you know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change. You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life.’
While some stars like Taylor Swift have a harem of fellow celebrities around them, Demi isn’t interested in having too many friendships with her famous peers. While she cites Nick and Joe Jonas as good pals, she doesn’t seem them as celebrities as she’s grown up with them.
‘I don’t really hang out with celebrities,’ she said. ‘I’m not the type of person that’s on Instagram posting pictures of me and tons of my best friends. I have my core group, and they’re the type of people that will be there for me in the middle of the night. They’re the type of people that are like, ‘You’re being a b**ch right now. Don’t talk to me that way,’ and I’m like,
‘Whoa. Sorry. I didn’t realise it.’ I don’t have anybody around me who kisses my a*s.
