Demi Lovato Breaks Silence After Overdose

Demi Lovato is vowing to “keep fighting” following her suspected drug overdose.

Demi Lovato was hospitalised on 24 July, after being found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home, and has been recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Following the medical emergency, Lovato’s representative asked for privacy and insisted some reports surrounding her were inaccurate. And now Demi is speaking out for the first time, admitting she still has work to do to overcome her addiction.

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” she writes in a message on Instagram. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

She is also thanking her fans for their support and medical professionals for their efforts while she has been hospitalised.

“I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well,” she continues. “To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time. I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.”

It has been reported Lovato has agreed to enter rehab after she is released from the hospital, but she has not confirmed the rumours. However, she will take some time to “focus on… (her) sobriety and road to recovery.”

“The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side,” she concludes. “I will keep fighting.”

The Confident singer celebrated six years of sobriety earlier this year, before confessing to her fans that she had relapsed in new song Sober, which was released in June.
