Remember when Rock rocked? Great rock bands are still out there. Nate Cook, Jesse Parmet and Noah Shomberg are The Yawpers from Denver, Colarado.
The Yawpers formed in 2011 and are now four or five albums in with ‘Human Question’. It is incredible that a band this good can go this far with barely a ripple. That says more about the decay of A&R in the music biz as majors chase more and more ‘fast food’ acts than it does about this band.
Rock, punk rock, pub rock … call them what you will, The Yawpers are simply a great band.
‘Human Question’ is made like albums used to be made. It is all thriller, no filler, around 20 minutes a side on the vinyl format and clocking in at around 38 minutes from start to finish so every minutes counts.
The entire ‘Human Question’ album was created old school. This wasn’t a long, draw out production. Everything from writing, to rehearsing to recording, then mixing was done in two months.
When you listen to The Yawpers you will recall a lot of your favourite classic rock acts. They’ve taken the influences of rock and blues just as Led Zep or the Stones did and crafted out their own sound.
Don’t expect to hear them on radio. The Yawpers don’t fit the ‘ketchup and fries’ format. Jump on Spotify and check them out more thoroughly.
