Depeche Mode Spirit Given Simian Mobile Disco Touch

James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco produced the 14th Depeche Mode album ‘Spirit’.

‘Spirit’ is the first Depeche Mode album since ‘Delta Machine’ in 2013.

Ford worked on the new Depeche Mode while recording his fifth Simian Mobile Disco album ‘Welcome To Sideways’.

The prolific producer is also the man behind the sound of recent albums for Foals, Mumford & Sons, Florence + The Machine and The Last Shadow Puppets.

Depeche Mode will promote the ‘Spirit’ album with the Global Spirit Tour starting in Stockholm on May 5. So far the “global” only covers Europe.

For some strange reason Australia has failed to encompass Depeche Mode like Europe and the USA. Outside of Australia, Depeche Mode is a stadium band. In the UK, every Depeche Mode album since 1981 has reached the Top 10. In the US, every Depeche Mode album since 1990 has been a Top 10 album. Their biggest album in Australia was ‘Ultra’ in 1997.
