Designer Peter Saville talks about Joy Division’s iconic Unknown Pleasures album cover in a new video.
Boing Boing alerted us to an interesting little clip put together by the organizers of the Visualized conference, taking place in New York on November 8 and 9.
In it, designer and art director Peter Saville talks about inspiration, creation, and cultural impact of the image which adorned Joy Division’s 1979 classic Unknown Pleasures.
Saville worked on many album sleeves, including Joy Division’s second and final album Closer, New Order’s Power, Corruption And Lies, Peter Gabriel’s So, Wham!’s Music From The Edge Of Heaven and Pulp’s This Is Hardcore.
